Granby Shooting Today- Nearby Shooting Reported

Several Norfolk, Virginia schools were placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after reports of a nearby shooting prompted a rapid police response.

Norfolk Public Schools confirmed that Granby Elementary and Granby High School were placed under lockdown as a precaution after reports of gunfire in the surrounding area. Officials later stated the lockdown had not yet been fully lifted at the time of initial updates.

Norfolk Collegiate also implemented a brief external lockdown, bringing students inside as a safety measure. That lockdown was later lifted after police gave an all-clear.

According to Norfolk Police, officers responded to a shooting report in the 200 block of Harvard Street, near the schools. Authorities confirmed there were no reported injuries and no gunshot victim at the scene.

Some witnesses reported hearing gunshots while inside nearby school buildings, though officials have not confirmed additional details.

School dismissals proceeded with safety precautions in place as police continued their investigation. Authorities say the situation remains under review.
