Deerfield Beach Middle School Shooting – Possible threats investigated at schools in Deerfield Beach and Weston, BSO says

Two schools in Broward County were placed on lockdown Wednesday as authorities responded to reports of potential threats, prompting a swift investigation and heightened safety measures.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, deputies first received a report around 12:30 p.m. regarding a possible threat at Deerfield Beach Middle School. Approximately 15 minutes later, a second report was made concerning Cypress Bay High School.

Out of an abundance of caution, both campuses were immediately placed on lockdown while law enforcement responded. Deputies and detectives were dispatched to thoroughly assess the situation and ensure the safety of students and staff.

Authorities later confirmed that Cypress Bay High School was cleared after investigators found no immediate threat. Officials have not indicated any confirmed danger at Deerfield Beach Middle School as of the latest updates, though investigations were ongoing.

Officials with Broward County Public Schools stated that the response was triggered by an anonymous tip regarding a potential threat. In a public statement, the district emphasized that administrators were working closely with law enforcement and that there was no immediate indication of danger.

“The safety of students and staff remains our top priority,” the district said.

The incident highlights the continued vigilance of school officials and law enforcement in responding quickly to any potential risks, even when threats remain unverified.
