Coolidge Park Chattanooga Shooting – Police Investigate Shots Fired Call, Area Temporarily Closed

Authorities in Chattanooga are investigating an incident that prompted the temporary closure of Coolidge Park on Wednesday afternoon.

According to initial reports, officers with the Chattanooga Police Department were dispatched shortly after 2 p.m. following a call reporting possible gunfire in the area. Police spokesperson Elisa Myzal confirmed that officers are investigating a “shots fired” call.

As a precaution, Coolidge Park was cleared and closed to the public while officers secured the scene. Nearby River Street was also shut down to traffic to allow law enforcement to conduct their investigation.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether there were any injuries, suspects, or arrests. Nearby businesses remained open, and officials have not indicated a broader threat to the surrounding area.
