Bolton School Lockdown – Police Responds to Potential Firearm Report, School’s Locked Down

Police in Bolton responded to reports of a potential firearm sighting early on April 29, prompting precautionary lockdowns at two local primary schools.

According to Greater Manchester Police, officers were called to Chorley New Road at approximately 7:40 a.m. following concerns raised about a possible firearm in the area.

As a safety measure, both St Thomas of Canterbury Primary School and Devonshire Road Primary School were placed into lockdown while officers carried out investigations.

Police later confirmed that, after extensive enquiries, there was no viable threat and no wider risk to the public. The lockdowns were subsequently lifted, and normal activities resumed.

Authorities have stated that enquiries into the incident have now been completed.
