Marlin Drieman Accident Monroe City, Man, 88, Died After Being Struck by Dump Truck on Highway 50

A tragic two-vehicle crash on Highway 50 east of Vincennes on Tuesday has claimed the life of 88-year-old Marlin Drieman of Monroe City, leaving family and community members mourning a sudden and heartbreaking loss.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene after reports of a serious collision involving a truck and a dump truck. Investigators say Drieman was traveling south on Anson Road when he failed to yield the right of way while entering Highway 50 eastbound traffic.

At that time, a dump truck driven by 46-year-old Scotty Demoss of Solsberry, Indiana, was traveling east on Highway 50. Authorities say the dump truck struck the passenger side of Drieman’s vehicle with significant force.
Both vehicles came to rest in a nearby ditch following the impact.

Emergency responders arrived and worked the scene, but Marlin Drieman was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.
Officials also confirmed that Indiana State Police are reconstructing the crash as part of an ongoing investigation. While first responders were on scene, a second crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Highway 50. That secondary incident is also being investigated separately.
Deputies said those involved in the second crash sustained only minor injuries.

The dual incidents led to a full closure of both eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 50 for several hours as emergency crews worked to investigate, clear debris, and restore safety to the roadway.

As the investigation continues, Marlin Drieman is being remembered in sorrow — a life of 88 years ending suddenly on a quiet roadway, leaving behind grief, memories, and a community reflecting on a tragic day on Highway 50.
