Shane Cushman Obituary Death – The Windsor community is mourning the heartbreaking and tragic loss of 16-year-old Shane Cushman, whose life was cut short in a fatal stabbing on April 26, 2026.
According to the Windsor Police Service, officers responded to reports of a person with a weapon in the 300 block of Tecumseh Road East shortly before 6 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Shane suffering from a critical stab wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, including CPR at the scene, he was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Authorities have confirmed that an 18-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, uttering death threats, and wearing a facemask in the commission of an offence. The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to gather evidence and build a timeline of events.
Shane Cushman is being remembered as a kind-hearted, vibrant young man with a bright future ahead. A Grade 11 student, he was known among friends and classmates for his compassion, loyalty, and ability to make others feel included. He had a love for basketball, music, and a dream of helping others, with aspirations of becoming a youth counsellor.
Family and friends describe him as a source of light, someone who brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to those around him. His sudden and violent passing has left an unimaginable void in the hearts of his loved ones, including his mother and younger sister.
